Lara Brooks is the Chief Program Officer at San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Prior to joining SFAF, Brooks was executive director of the Chicago Youth Storage Initiative, a citywide storage project for young people experiencing homelessness, and directed Howard Brown Health’s Broadway Youth Center where they led programs that serve LGBTQ+ youth and youth experiencing homelessness. Brooks has worked with street-based and homeless youth, survivors of violence, and queer and trans youth for nearly two decades. Paying special attention to the intersection of trauma, harm reduction, oppression and resilience, Brooks has proudly supported a range of projects in board and advisory roles throughout the years —Youth Empowerment Performance Project, Young Women’s Empowerment Project, Sage Community Health Collective, and others.
