Celebrating 7 years of supporting and trusting trans leadership!

2019 marks TJFP’s seventh year of grantmaking, working with trans/gender non-conforming/non-binary leaders, and honoring the work of grassroots trans-led organizing and activism. Last year, many of you made it possible to distribute an astounding $650,000 amongst 183 groups across the county! And this year with your support, our goal is to raise $75,000 so we can m0ve a total of $750,000 to grassroots trans justice groups, because once again… we received even more applications!

In our seventh year of funding we received a record-breaking 241 applications from trans-led grassroots groups around the country!

To date, TJFP has received 877 applications and given away over 717 grants totaling more than $1.9 million dollars through our community-led process. It’s because of all of you who have provided so much community love and support that we are able get all this done.  We’ve been able to do more than we ever imagined because our people are so fiercely committed.

Let’s raise $75,000 before June 7th!

Please join us again to ensure our communities have the support they need and deserve-as they make a better way for trans communities locally and nationwide. So let’s raise some money together!

We think it’s also worth mentioning that this year we received applications from 97 groups that has never applied for a TJFP grant before! That number of applications alone hopefully spark a bit of hopefulness in yourhearts as much as it does in ours! Without a doubt, each of these groups are making a profound impact in their communities every single day. We have to support the work of trans-leadership and grassroots organizing. The trans justice movement is growing, our communities keep showing up for one another, and Trans/GNC/non-binary activists and organizers continue to find innovative ways to provide care. And just as these trans justice projects and organizations keep showing up for their communities… our communities, we hope TJFP’s incredible base of donors and supporters will continue to show up for them.

“Trans justice to me would mean taking our power back. Changing the records and history books to talk about queer and transpeople; how we’ve always been here, contributing to society. Even though people try to deny and kill us in every way shape and form, we’re still resilient.” –Bré Campbell, 2018 Grantmaking Fellow

From $1 to $75,000, there’s no donation too big or too small. Every dollar you give will go directly to this year’s grantees.

What We Do and Why We Do It

The Trans Justice Funding Project (TJFP) is a community-led funding initiative founded in 2012 to support grassroots, trans justice groups run by and for trans people. We make grants annually by bringing together a panel of six trans justice activists from around the country to carefully review every application we receive. We center the leadership of trans people organizing around their experiences with racism, economic injustice, transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, incarceration, and other intersecting oppressions.

Other ways you can help!

As a community, we have the ability to uplift and support each other in so many ways and this project is just one example in a long-history of community-led resistance and action. For folks not able to contribute through monetary donations, there are so many other ways to help. Right now, we’d be especially grateful for your help in spreading the word about this campaign!
